  3. HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY, ARRAN!
I dont know and dont think I am in the right place, but am typing here anyway. I am on Day 21 of my Annapurna extravagenza! In a five star hotel by the lake in Pokara and it is really sunny here. Waiting for an ENGLISH speaking guide to join me! My french friend Gis will come along with us. We will be brought around the Pokara valley, visit the pilgrimage sites, Hindu temple Bindabashini and the Tibetan refugee camp. We will go boating on the Phewa Lake and hopefully have a bit of time to buy a skirt and Nepal style top to match the Summer that is happening here. Yes, our walking trek ended in Ghandruk yesterday afternoon. My Australian friends invited me, guide and porter to join them in their rented jeep. We careened down the remaining feet or meters singing and waving our arms indian style to loud all the same type of music. Great happiness and joy and a certain relief and gratitude for having made it to the highest point in the world. Now I sit at 823 meters or 2,700 feet. I can breathe again (questionable, as the air is lets say, not so clean and pristine here in the second largest city in Nepal). Yes, we celebrated on April 12th at 17,765 feet (5,416 meters) .....

    The sunrises
    The sunsets
    The mountains
    The contrasts
    The peoples
    The lifestyles
    The silence
    The bells
The chanting behind the mountains at 6 am
    The mules
    The weights carried ..
    By everyone
    The focus
    The family togetherness
    The acceptance
    The smiles
    The oneness with nature
The changes on the other side of the river (road being built ... double edged sword ...)
I am very happy to be here when I am,as modernization is happening ....

    Blogs are so impersonal ...
but only way to get something across to you
along with hugs and smiles and joy
    and good health
    above all gratitude!

I did not hear about the volcano until yesterday.
