I am back!

At last I return to my blog! Almost Christmas Day and here I am in Burnaby now for 8 months! No cats, no dogs, no kids! Enjoying my balcony, my fireplace and just being in own place! Teaching private ESL students in their homes, writing, working on the "literacy project" for the Childhaven home in Kathmandu. Doing yoga and just getting sorted with friends and stuff. Good to be here close to Arran and Teresa, able to make dinners, have friends over, make new friends etc. Off to Toronto December 28 - January 6th and then, let's see! Talks of some challenges and volunteering in 2012.

twitter!

Yes, this is how to get to me in Twitter! I have nothing better to do, right?! its all this communication stuff I am trying out in the VCC online foundations course I am taking in adult teaching and learning. Finding out ways to network and share cross cultural ideas.

Back in Burnaby B.C

It is hard to realize that I am now three months in Burnaby! where has the time gone? the same way as it has gone for everyone, I guess.

I am nicely installed in my little condo close to the skytrain. I have had friends over, kids in the pool down stairs and even had some out of towners stay over. I am close to the activities, temptations and coastline of Vancouver, and a couple of skytrain stations from Arran and Teresa.

I am offering ESL services to the burnaby community and have the use of a local spa to give neck and shoulder massages to those willing to pay! I also am keeping in touch with the orphanage in Kathmandu with my little literacy project and am writing a manual for the young librarian who is working there.

I am pretty deeply immersed in a 6 week empowering online course for instructors teaching adults. It gives me an opportunity to network with other like minded folks and to catch up with the many changes happening in this and every field. Some play bridge, chess and golf, I take courses, that is, if I am not travelling! It is great to have my office (bedroom) set up with books, dvds and course materials around me. It feels like I am in a forest, there are trees just outside my windows, a haven in Burnaby for birds!

Anyways, I hope to keep this blog going, so please stay in touch.

Cheers, Dyane
