I get up before 7 a.m. in a sweet but simple hostel here in Nasca , West Peru.  I am waiting to have a taxi driver bring me around to see a few Inca sites (3 hours for $30.00).  It is already sunny and warm and I put on my light clothes and sip on some tea.  Before I start my day I think back to this past year and all the wonderful moments spent and I am thankful.  Thankful for the teaching I have done in Vancouver in the early year, for spending times with so many each of my friends and family I have seen in Ireland, for the courses I took at the University of Galway, the festivals there, and the writing workshops with Yvonne, for my new bike and cycling across Ireland.  For friends who visited me in the west, to walk, take ferries to the Aran Islands and for cycling with me in Connemara. For the Relaxing into Memoir workshop with another friend in Mexico and for the lovely house, dogs and bird we looked after when in San Miguel de Allende.  For walking the Inca Trail and visiting the Machu Pichu.  Times with special people on this journey.  For the personal challenges through the year, for the possibilities and opportunities that present themselves.  I am thankful for my good health and for all the gifts of 2014.

12:30 and am Nasca, Cruz Del Sur bus station, 2nd floor waiting for the bus to leave.  Fortunately there is noone beside me so I can sort of spread out.  I am thankful for the air conditioning as it is so hot outside. My ticket is to Paracas, but because I cant find a place to stay will get off at ICA, about 2 ½ hours west of here and take a taxi (7 soles) to Cacachina (sp?!) where I am in a hostel with 25 beds in my room!  Also there is a party here this evening, so it will be interesting to see if I get any sleep at all.  I understand that this is a yuppie place to be!  Cant wait!  Anyways will go to Paracas tomorrow or the next day hopefully it wont be too busy there after the new year.  Greece, the guy in the Nasca hostel was so kind and thoughtful and helpful throughout.  Nice hot shower, clean towels etc and a hard double bed where I got a good night’s sleep.  Glad I found the archaeoloigal museum last night as I was feeling weird and hot and out of placel  that was well done.  So much material for writing...
